Have you ever gotten this close to a tiger? Angela wouldn't let me take a picture with Eliana this time.
The family at the zoo.
YES, you could actually pay 2 dollars and feed the lions and tigers meat on a stick!!!! It was amazing being 10 feet from the animals. Oh yeah, you could pay 4 dollars and throw a live bird in with the lions and watch them devour it. And yes, they were very hungry. It was the most amazing zoo experience ever!! I don't think I will ever want to go to a zoo in the US again after going to this zoo.
A village perched on the top of a mountain on our two day drive into the mountains.
Eliana the beautiful
We travelled up into the mountains for two days. This was one of the nicer parts of the road. To the right is a two thousand foot drop. The road was like this for almost 40 minutes. Our truck was sliding sideways at times. I usually never get scared in a car, but this was definitely the craziest ride I have ever been on.
Feeding the fish. There were hundreds of them swarming for the food people were feeding them.
We have been out of Thailand for the past 10 days on a vision trip so we haven't been able to update the blog for a while. Here are some pictures of our trip so far. We get back home on the 30th. We are travelling out of the area that we are in now on Monday, then going back to Thailand at the end of the month. Hopefully we will be able to post more soon.
Here are some pictures that I took recently on my trip up North. We travelled around to different villages for five days visiting people and getting some video. One of our friends from back home came out to do the video work and I was able to take pictures during the time. We really had a great time going around to these different villages and met some really cool people.
The team at the airport as they were leaving with the King watching over in the background.
Hanging out with our new friends.
This is how close we all were to the cobra/snake show. The guys doing the show thought that it was funny to fling the snakes at the audience. Ha, Ha, Ha.
Some of the school kids doing chalk drawings right outside of the school after the program.
One of the programs that the team put on for the schools in Mae Sai where Angela taught last year.
We absolutely loved having a team from our home church here for a week. We travelled around northern Thailand and had several opportunities to do fun English programs in schools and different childrens outreaches. The students and leaders did a great job and had adventurous attitudes- even spending a night in a village! It was encouraging for us to spend time with close friends as well.
You never knew she could be so dangerous and such bad luck did you? We went to a snake show yesterday with our short-term team. First we went elephant riding in the morning, which was a lot of fun, and then we went to see this snake show in the afternoon. It was pretty crazy. These guys were doing all kinds of stuff with different cobras. This show is definitely recommended if you are ever in Chiang Mai. I don't think that I would be getting this close to the cobra.
This close either.
This is illegal in most states except for Texas and North Carolina.
It's a sad day when an elephant can draw better than most people. This picture isn't finished yet, but it turned out awesome. He drew a self portrait with trees in the background!
