EARTHQUAKE
We were sleeping well last night until midnight when we jumped out of bed and ran to Eliana's room because of the earthquake. Yes, we had an earthquake last night that measured 4.7 on the richter scale. It only lasted about 30 seconds but it was pretty scary for people who come from the East coast of the US. After the first one there were about four or five smaller ones that only lasted for a few seconds, but it made for a fun night. The last one ended around 5:30 in the morning. It is pretty common here in North Thailand to get small earthquakes, but this is the first one we have felt in the two years we have lived up here. It didn't do any damage, and we were told that the epicenter was right here in Chiang Mai.

The Passport Photo Adventure
Okay, so I know this is long overdue, but I was looking through pictures I took earlier this year and was reminded of our fun passport photo adventure. Have you ever tried to get your kids to look at the camera or smile for photos? Then you know how frustrating it can be when they just want to watch the cat instead of looking at the camera. Well, imagine how much more fun it is to try to get a passport photo of a 1 week old. She couldn't even keep her head up for the camera, but you have to follow these rules for the photo:
-Photographs must be 2x2 inches in size, identical, taken within the past 6 months.
-The image size from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head should be between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches.
-The photographs may be in color or black and white.
-They must be full face, front view with a plain white or off-white background.
-Photographs should be taken in normal street attire, without a hat or headgear that obscures the hair or hairline.
-Uniforms should not be worn in photographs with the exception of religious attire which is worn daily.
-If prescription glasses, a hearing device, wig or similar articles are normally and consistently worn, they should be worn when the picture is taken.
-Dark glasses or nonprescription glasses with tinted lenses are not acceptable unless required for medical reasons. A medical certificate may be required to support the wearing of such glasses in the photographs.
So after many pictures and lots of laughs here is the picture video of our experience in high speed.

Daddy and daughterEliana Walks the Line
Eliana is loving to walk (with help of course). She loves it so much that she gets angry when mommy and daddy put her down.

The Creepy Crawler
So she is finally crawling all around and seeing how much devastation she can leave in her wake. It was just a matter of time...a month and a half...before she finally got up enough curiosity to explore the house. She could have been crawling a long time ago, and she would go for two or three feet and then just stop and sit in one place. But now she is moving all over the place and seeing how many times mommy and daddy can say 'No don't touch that' or 'Stay away from the fan.' It's so much fun though and she seems like she is having more fun now that she has a little freedom.

Eliana Goes to the Zoo
We went to the Chiang Mai Zoo this morning and had a great time. This was Eliana's first trip to a Zoo and she loved all the animals even the stuffed ones...
Food is always so much better when you can wear it too.
